Sydney Sweeney's Upcoming Movies (2026–2027): Gundam, Barbarella, The Housemaid's Secret & More
With Euphoria concluding its final season on May 31, 2026, Sydney Sweeney's film slate is now the center of gravity of her career — and it is one of the busiest in Hollywood. Days after the finale, she announced Honey Trap, her new production label with a first-look deal at Sony Pictures (as reported by Deadline on June 1, 2026), with longtime collaborator Kaylee McGregor as president of production and development. Here is every upcoming Sydney Sweeney movie, ordered by how close it is to reaching the screen — current as of June 2026.
Gundam — filming now
Netflix's live-action take on the iconic Japanese mecha franchise began principal photography on April 20, 2026 at Village Roadshow Studios on Australia's Gold Coast, per Variety. Sweeney stars opposite Noah Centineo in an original story set amid a sprawling space war, with Jason Isaacs, Shioli Kutsuna, Michael Mando and Nonso Anozie in the cast. Jim Mickle directs, with Legendary Pictures producing alongside Bandai Namco Filmworks. Netflix has not announced a release date. Her role remains under wraps.
The Housemaid's Secret — December 17, 2027
The only project on this list with a firm date. Paul Feig's sequel to the hit thriller The Housemaid brings back Sweeney as Millie Calloway and Michele Morrone, with Kirsten Dunst joining the cast; Lionsgate has production slated to begin in fall 2026. The Custom of the Country — in post-production
Josie Rourke's adaptation of Edith Wharton's 1913 novel wrapped filming in Portugal in spring 2026. Sweeney plays Undine Spragg — the original social climber — opposite Leo Woodall, Dominic West, Miranda Richardson, Matthew Goode and Rose Leslie, with Studiocanal backing. No release date yet, but this is likely her next prestige play.
Barbarella — in development at Sony
The long-gestating revival of the 1968 cult sci-fi classic gained fresh momentum in June 2026 under Sweeney's new Honey Trap deal, per Deadline, with Edgar Wright attached to direct for TriStar. Sweeney stars as the space adventurer and produces. No production timeline has been announced.
Hollow — the first Honey Trap film
Announced June 2, 2026: Sweeney will star in and produce an adaptation of Lindsey Anderson Beer's debut novel Hollow — a gothic, supernatural reimagining of Sleepy Hollow told from Katrina Van Tassel's perspective. Beer adapts and directs, and Margot Robbie's LuckyChap co-produces. The novel itself doesn't publish until fall 2027, so this one is further out.
Split Fiction
Jon M. Chu directs the adaptation of Hazelight's hit co-op video game, from a script by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Sweeney is attached to star and executive-produce, with Amazon MGM having won the rights in 2025. Which of the two leads — sci-fi writer Mio or fantasy writer Zoe — she plays hasn't been announced.
That Man From Rio
Justin Lin directs this Apple remake of Philippe de Broca's 1964 French adventure classic — a stated inspiration for Indiana Jones. Sweeney stars and executive-produces. Announced October 2025; still in development.
I Pretended to Be a Missing Girl
Warner Bros won a competitive bidding war for this thriller in March 2025, based on the viral short story about a drifter who impersonates a girl who vanished ten years earlier — only to realize she's made a terrible mistake. Oscar winner Eric Roth (Forrest Gump, Dune) writes; Sweeney stars and produces. No director is attached yet.
Scandalous! — status uncertain
Colman Domingo's directorial debut would cast Sweeney as screen icon Kim Novak opposite David Jonsson's Sammy Davis Jr., chronicling their secret 1957 romance. Reports on its production status conflict — it remains on Miramax's development slate, but a planned early-2026 shoot has not been confirmed to have happened.
